Tips to Spice Up Your Next Date Night
The Queen City’s vibrant nightlife, intimate restaurants, and great bars make it a great date night locale, wherever you go. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, you might be in need of a little romantic inspiration. Whether you’re hoping to take in city views with your sweetheart or are looking for a quiet spot to get to know each other, Charlotte has plenty to offer. Here are our picks to make your next date night a night to remember.
Hit the Right Note
There are music venues scattered across the city, perfect for taking in a high-energy show or a mellow musical performance. One such place is The Evening Muse, which has been bringing acts of all genres to the stage for more than a decade. Located in NoDa, Charlotte’s arts district, The Evening Muse hosts acts from near and far.
For a larger, louder venue, check out the AvidXchange Music Factory, an entertainment complex that offers big name acts in music and comedy. The Factory is home to two of Charlotte’s largest venues: The Fillmore and the CMCU Amphitheatre. You and your significant other can spend the night exploring the complex’s multiple venues, bars, and restaurants.
Take the Stage
There’s nothing like a night at the theater. Founded in 1948, Opera Carolina is the largest opera company in the Carolinas, and it’s located right in here in Charlotte. Take your date to see an operatic masterpiece like “The Barber of Seville” or a more experimental, contemporary work. The company will present Verdi’s “La traviata” in January and “Bon Appétit!” – a one-woman opera inspired by a Julia Child broadcast – in February.
The Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte offers a different type of theater experience. Founded on the idea of bringing bold, innovative works to Charlotte, the Theatre has put on 27 seasons of plays by contemporary playwrights. It’s the region’s only professional theater that dedicates its entire programming to new daring, pioneering works.
Grab a Bite
Before or after the big show, grab a bite to eat with your date at one of the city’s many romantic – and delicious – restaurants. For fine dining in Charlotte’s historic Fourth Ward, check out McNinch House Restaurant. This unique restaurant is located in a Queen Anne-style home built in 1892 by Charlotte Mayor Sam McNinch. You can’t find a more romantic setting for dinner than that!
For a late night bite, stop by Amélie’s, a French bakery and cafe in the heart of NoDa. This shabby chic Parisian-themed spot is open 24 hours a day to cater to your sweet tooth at any time. Bring your date here for a delectable dessert and warm beverage to cap off the night.
